The Cottbus State Theatre, a multi-genre theatre, is well-known and popular far beyond the city borders. On its three stages, the performances cover a broad range of attractive and interesting productions.
Located directly in the heart of the city between the historical and the modern city centre, the Stadthalle Cottbus has successfully maintained its status of Brandenburg's largest event hall for nearly thirty years. It is a venue for all genres of entertainment.
High-class concerts now take place where previously pupils had their gym lessons: at the music school, the former gymnasium was converted into an architecturally worthwhile concert hall featuring excellent acoustics.
The FilmFestival Cottbus is the leading festival of Eastern European film. Every year, it gives audiences a representative overview of the current feature film production of the entire range of Eastern European countries. The focus is on feature film, including short feature films and films for children and young people.
Moreover, our city is home to a multitude of other theatres and companies. Be it theatre, concert or fairy tales: a visit is always well worth its while.
In February 2011, the new children's and young people's theatre Am Erich Kästner Platz was officially opened. The new stage combines plays, theatre and dance pedagogy and puppet shows (performances by the former "Regenbogen" puppet stage).
