Founded in 1911 as Lyzeum of the ambitious city, it became in 1928 Oberlyzeum. It is held in clear late art nouveau forms. The style relationship with the Staatstheatre is clearly recognizable.
Conservatoire, that means enjoying music in the representative concert hall in the Puschkinpromenade house. The conservatoire offers numerous possibilities of experiencing music, of becoming acquainted with it and of learning it.
The art nouveau hall with its outstanding acoustics is the ideal venue for concerts and other events. Famous musicians and ensembles have given guest performances here.
The music pedagogical faculty at the Lausitz University of Applied Sciences provides special cultural events at the conservatoire - both modern and classical performances involving singing and instruments, solos and ensembles.
